KingWorld was a television distributor best known for syndicating the nighttime Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, until its absorption into CBS Television Distribution (later CBS Media Ventures starting in 2021) in 2007.

Logo History[]

The logo went through some major changes in it's run.

  • Originally, instead of a proper on-screen graphic logo, originally the text "KING WORLD PRODUCTIONS, INC." would be seen superimposed over the set or the wheel.
  • In 1984, the text variants were dropped in favor of the actual logo now superimposed over the wheel spinning, later on however it would only show on the set. The logo later on was moved from the center of the screen to the bottom and the words "Distributed By" were seen on the top. Charlie O'Donnell would also give a spiel on the Distributor.
  • In 1990, the logo no longer was superimposed onto the set and now had it's own background. The words "Distributed By" are also now in all caps and it will remain this way moving forward.
  • Starting in 1996 and going on until 1998, a "page-turning" effect was added to the logo, similar to the Merv Griffin logo that was used before. From this point on also, Charlie O'Donnell no longer does his spiel over this logo anymore.
  • In 1998, the logo was given a complete overhaul, the logo has a different design and font, a sunset background, the spotlights are removed, and the logo is now a darker blue color.
  • The last KingWorld logo debut in 2006 and was used until early 2007, the cloud background is now blue, the logo is 3D, and the "DISTRIBUTED BY" text is smaller.
